The Dallas Hard Rock Cafe added a star honoring slain guitar player "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott to its walk of fame in a ceremony Thursday night (November 9).
Abbott, along with his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, were part of PANTERA, one of the most acclaimed metal bands of the 1990s.
The brothers were performing with Damageplan, a band they formed after leaving Pantera, when Darrell Abbott was fatally shot onstage in Columbus, Ohio, on Dec. 8, 2004. He was 38.
The guitarist lived in Dalworthington Gardens at the time of his death and is buried in Arlington.
After the star unveiling, Vinnie Paul Abbott and Darrell's longtime companion, Rita Haney, presented the Dean guitar Darrell Abbott used on Pantera's 101 Proof tour.
Last year the pair presented another guitar "Dime" had owned to the Hard Rock cafe in San Antonio, according to a report in the San Antonio Express-News.
Other musicians with stars in the Dallas walk of fame include ELVIS PRESLEY, JERRY LEE LEWIS and Texas trio ZZ TOP.
