Former DEEP PURPLE Keyboardist Reunites With Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Trumpeter

Vivienne Nicoll from the Eveningtimes.co.uk is reporting:
Forty years ago a young trumpeter called John Wallace joined rock legends DEEP PURPLE on stage at the Royal Albert Hall.
At the time he was a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the concert was the first performance of a concerto written by Purple keyboard player Jon Lord.
Next month, history will repeat itself when Mr. Wallace and the classically trained rock star meet up at a performance of the same concerto.
But Mr. Wallace, who is now principal of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow, will be in the audience while 70 of his students back the Deep Purple star.
Concerto for Group and Orchestra, which had its debut in 1969, was one of the first times a rock band performed with a classical orchestra.
Deep Purple were best known for hits like 'Smoke On The Water' but the tie-up with the RPO was highly acclaimed.
On October 7, Lord will perform it again - this time in the Usher Hall with rock students from Edinburgh's Stevenson College.
