Vocalist Adrian O' Shaughnessy, better known in some circles as Aio, was a candidate in 2007 for the planned third FRAMESHIFT album, The God Delusion. O' Shaughnessy has resurfaced with audition material for DRAGONFORCE, who are currently looking for a replacement for departed singer ZP Theart who left the band in March. He has issued the following update:
"Hi Folks,So here it is, my audition vocals for Dragonforce. I really enjoyed the soaring melodies of this tune and it suited my vocal style pretty well. I think I'm supposed to record a vid of me singing it live and post it on YouTube but to be honest I'm not sure Dragonforce would be interested. If they hear this and get in touch then I'll record a vid and post it up. Turn it up!"
Check out the audition track here. Video footage is available below.
Aio will be keeping BW&BK; updated on his progress.
Following is Henning Pauly's recently comment on Aio's performance, issued in July 2007:
"Not to diminish the achievement of all the other applicants, but Aio was definitely among the finalists. I really like his voice and the power he put into the piece. It's clear that he is a Frameshift fan and that he's heard the other albums which was very flattering. The only thing that made him not get the job in the end was that what he did sounded too close to something I have already done. I was looking for a different kind of vocalist. Dan (Swanö) sounds nothing like the people I've worked with, and although Magali (Luyten) has a metal voice, she's female and can do things with her voice none of the previous vocalists could. I'd love to follow any projects that Aio is doing and would like to hear them. I wouldn't rule out to work with him in the future."
