Former KING DIAMOND Guitarist PETE BLAKK Explains His Absence
March 22, 2008, 16 years ago
Newly formed super group, DISASTERPIECE, is the brainchild of ex-KING DIAMOND guitarist Pete Blakk (Them, Conspiracy, The Eye era), CRIMSON GLORY vocalist Wade Black and guitar wunderkin Rick Renstrom (ex-ROB ROCK). Following his involvement with the greasepaint masked Dane, Blakk disappeared off the metal radar; so where's he been?
"I released an album in '96 with my band BLAKK TOTEM. It never came out over here (North America) and in '97 I quit. I didn't touch the guitar for seven years. I went to work in marketing, made a lot of money. I'm retired now, so I can devote time exclusively to music. Two years ago, I told my wife I have something unfinished, some things I need to do (musically)." Thus Disasterpiece.
The band is also set to include Hal Patino (bass, Force of Evil/King Diamond/Mercyful Fate) and possibly drummer Snowy Shaw (THERION, ex-King Diamond, DREAM EVIL).
Last night Disasterpiece co-headlined the inaugural Nightmare Metal Fest, which is taking place at Bourbon Street in New Port Richey, Florida this weekend.
