Former SUICIDE SILENCE Members Reactivate TORN WITHIN; Release Surprise EP
November 18, 2022, 2 years ago
Former Suicide Silence guitarist Rick Ash and former Suicide Silence drummer Josh Goddard have reactivated Ash's original deathcore outfit Torn Within after a 17-year hiatus to drop a surprise new release, The Peregrination EP, out now.
"Reconnecting was important to us; after that, it was important for us to contribute something," says the band. "We're all ready to return to the stage, so there is a sense of urgency to put this record out."
Recorded by the band, mixed by Brian Collins and Rick Ash, and mastered by Wendell Frohwein, The Peregrination EP is violent, textured and served with dissonance and intensity.
Torn Within was formed in Southern California in 2002 and released a series of demos, performing live at the legendary Showcase Theater in Corona, California, and sharing the stage with Cattle Decapitation, All Shall Perish and others.
Upon their dissolution, guitarist Rick Ash and bassist Mike Bodkins would join Suicide Silence with Josh Goddard, Mitch Lucker and Chris Garza, and record the song "Bludgeoned To Death" and 2005's Suicide Silence EP before Ash and Goddard eventually moved on.
Presently, Torn Within's members are scattered across the country and plot their return to the stage in 2023.
The Peregrination EP is out now on all digital platforms and a limited run of CDs via Been There, Scene That Records. Purchase here.
