Longtime melodic rock singer Dennis Hardy "Fergie" Frederiksen passed away yesterday (January 18). He was best known as the former lead singer of TRILLION, ANGEL, LE ROUX and TOTO, as well as a background vocalist for SURVIVOR. Frederikson's last solo album, Any Given Moment, was issued this past August by Frontiers. The video for the song 'Angel Don't Cry' can be viewed below.

According to Wikipedia, he contributed to hit singles in three consecutive years, all with different bands: Survivor's American Heartbeat in 1982, Le Roux's Carrie's Gone in 1983 and Toto's Stranger In Town in 1984.

Vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TALISMAN, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) issued the following statement on Facebook:

"R.I.P. to one of my favorite singers, Fergie Frederikson!! Fergie sang on of my favorite Toto albums, Isolation, as well as with the band Le Roux on an album called All Fired Up. We traveled on many a similar path musically and I can't say enough nice things about him.

I knew he battled cancer the past years and knew even recently he decided he couldn't go through the torture of chemo again. He took the brave way out and let nature take its course as we could all see his body and mind were too fragile to endure it all again.

Thank you Fergie for the wonderful gift of song you left behind, I will lie in my bunk tonight after the show listening to your voice with great memories!"
