Original TROUBLE drummer and RETRO GRAVE mainman Jeff "Oly" Olson recently conducted an interview with BROOKLYN MILITIA drummer Joe Cangelsoi (ex-WHIPLASH, KREATOR) for the January 23rd edition of Olson's Internet radio show, Heady Metal With Jeff Olson. The chat can now be heard in its entirety in two parts at this location.

A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Cangelosi on recent departure from Whiplash: "I'm happy I've got a band (Brooklyn Militia) together now. You know I've put so much work into Whiplash and I want to thank all the fans out there. I've met a lot of contacts and so many cool people everywhere. I'll never forget it. I'm just going to continue on with my own thing, but it (Whiplash) was a strange situation. From out of the blue I got a call from Tony (Portaro) saying that he's getting Scaglione back in the band. There was no falling out or anything... I figure it's not my choice. Whatever. I'm shocked, but whatever. I see now that Scaglione is out of the band."

Cangelosi on Brooklyn Militia: "Brooklyn Militia was formed about maybe eight months ago and this was at the time that me and Rich Day were still in Whiplash. There were some personal things going on in the band where we couldn't play and we had to wait. Basically, me and Richie were left waiting around and we're like, let's keep playing and do something. We hooked up with Paul Bento. Paul is from CARNIVORE. He's a killer musician. He plays sitar fluently and he did some sitar and guitar work on some of the TYPE O NEGATIVE records... The last Whiplash record was called Unborn Again and we did a MONTROSE cover called 'Ive Got The Fire' and Paul used to come up on stage and play that with us. We then started writing songs together... so that's how we met and how Brooklyn Militia happened. Now we're in it to win it."
