QUEEN guitar legend BRIAN MAY's site has been updated with the following excerpt from an article published in Czech Business Weekly by Jonathan Timms:

Following collectors and dealers into new areas of interest can make investing in collectibles seem like child’s play. The surge in popularity of Internet auction sites such as E-bay has made collectibles a much bigger business than they once were. The Internet has encouraged interest, spread information and increasingly blurred the line between collectors and dealers.

The Internet has also expanded the range of items that are now considered collectibles. This was evidenced by the wide variety of items on offer at the 10th International Collectors Fair, held at Výstavišt? Praha (Prague Fairgrounds) Sept. 14–16. While the traditional collecting spheres of stamps, coins, medals and postcards predictably dominated the event, there were several more recent hobbies on display and other stands devoted to some distinctly esoteric interests.

One item not for sale, but a key attraction at the fair, was the juvenile stamp collection of rock star Freddie Mercury of Queen. The blue binder filled with mostly British Commonwealth stamps that he collected as a teenager in the 1950s showed his flair for style even at that age. He spread the stamps out in geometric designs, instead of following strict categories. The stamps were on loan from the British Postal Museum and Archive (BPMA).
