GAMA BOMB And SSS Comment On Irish Tour - “One Girl Fell Off The Top Of A Human Pyramid And Needed Stitches On Her Head”
April 19, 2010, 14 years ago
Irish thrashers GAMA BOMB have just completed a short tour of their homeland with support from Earache label-mates and Liverpool crossover thrashers SSS.
Gama Bomb and SSS kicked off the Back To The Fu tour last Thursday, making their way around the Republic Of Ireland and Northern Ireland, before Gama Bomb start the second leg of the tour in the UK in a couple of weeks.
Gama Bomb frontman Philly Byrne comments on the Irish shows: “We finished our four date Irish tour on Sunday night, very late, and we're completely knackered. We managed to cheat the Icelandic volcano by touring at home at precisely the right moment - take that mother nature! It was great fun, and much more successful than we ever expected it could be. Turns out people in Ireland love us! In Galway one girl fell off the top of a human pyramid and needed stitches on her head, we hope she's okay. We hope fans in the UK wear crash helmets for our upcoming shows."
SSS drummer Dave Ferguson adds: "On way back to Dublin after playing Galway, five of us crammed in a VW Golf, we were doing 85 miles an hour on the motorway, when the front left tyre flew off and bounced down the road ahead of us in a fireball! Sparks were flying up from the car, lighting Foxy's face up like bonfire night until we ditched it onto the hard shoulder. Freezing our bollocks off for 3 hours in the rain, I tied a shirt round my head and Foxy wore a big sheet. We looked like a fucking nativity scene at Christmas. There was even a loud bastard cow behind us. Scared the life out of the passers by!! The Ireland tour has been amazing! We only just made it over, being on the last plane to take off from Liverpool through the volcano. Our good mates in Gama Bomb and VISCERAL ATTACK have left us with smiles on our faces and a few tips on how to come up with song titles! The Emerald Isle has been good to SSS and we hope to come back soon. We are just tying some barrels together with rope so we can get back home!! Bloody volcanoes! What is this, 2000 BC?"
