Arizona-based extreme metal band HEMOPTYSIS have been chosen to receive their second consecutive "Metal Band Of The Year" award.

Guitarist/vocalist Masaki Murashita has recently received verbal confirmation from Phoenix Music Awards founder, Al Bowman, regarding the honor. This year’s incarnation of the event is scheduled for November 18th, 2010 at The Paramount Theater in Hollywood, CA.

Artists chosen to receive an award from the Phoenix Music Awards are evaluated by event producers and advisory board members before being selected. The selection process is based on the quality of recorded work submitted or seen at a live music venue in Arizona. Each recipient must also be in good standing as members of the international independent music community.

Hemoptysis are also tentatively scheduled to return to the studio this month with award-winning producer Ryan Greene (MEGADETH), to begin recording their debut full length album. This is the long awaited follow up to their acclaimed 5-song debut EP and Ryan Greene-produced CD single, 'Shadow Of Death'.

Following the studio, and after a short hiatus, the band will embark on the 2010 Fall Southwest Tour. Hemoptysis will be joined by CHAOS ASCENDING, as they play September dates across the Southwestern United States from California to Texas.
