Oshawa is closing in on the number one spot in the race to be part of a KISS fan-routed tour.
The city has been holding on to the second place spot for weeks now and is less than 350 votes from taking first place away from Winnipeg.
Global Spectrum Facility Management, which operates the General Motors Centre, and the City of Oshawa are calling on all Durham Region residents to vote online.
"KISS would have a significant beneficial economic impact to the downtown, the City and the Region, and would open the door to other big acts at the General Motors Centre," said Councillor Robert Lutczyk, who spearheaded the effort to bring the band to town.
A KISS booth set up at the Oshawa Centre on May 3 helped push Oshawa closer to first place. The booth was wired to allow people to vote online, and also featured free face painting, T-shirt draws and ballots to win a Gene Simmons Wii guitar.
Oshawa City Council also proclaimed April 27 to May 3 as KISS In Oshawa Week.
