December 18, 2009, 14 years ago
According to Eveningnews24.co.uk, amazing ice sculptures depicting historic events in Norwich, such as JIMI HENDRIX' legendary performance, will be going on display tomorrow.
The Ice Sculpture Trail will be bringing Christmas cheer to families across the city and beyond as they view the shimmering sculptures, which are hand-carved from 10 tonnes of ice.
There are a total of nine sculptures as well as a short film about their creation, which will be shown at The Forum between 9am and 4pm, and live carving in Castle Gardens.
The event, which has been running for five years, is being supported by the Evening News' sister paper the EDP, the Geoffrey Watling Charity and BBC Norfolk, and its theme was developed by the Norwich Heritage Economic and Regeneration Trust (HEART).
The Jimi Hendrix carving, which will be on Timberhill, was inspired by his 1960s performance at the Orford Cellar; a venue which also hosted performances by GINGER BAKER, ROD STEWART, DAVID BOWIE, ERIC CLAPTON and ELTON JOHN.
