MARTY FRIEDMAN's (ex-MEGADETH) official website has been updated with the following message:

"Marty has contributed a guitar solo to a new song by JASON BECKER, marking their first collaboration in 17 years. The solo is for a song called, 'Believe' and was recorded in Tokyo just prior to Marty's European tour this March. We at the site, Marty himself and of course music fans around the world are hoping this is only the first of many future collaborations. Stay tuned for Marty's thoughts on this in a very special interview we have coming up at this site later this spring! For release info and more details visit www.jasonbecker.com."

Friedman and Becker first joined forces in 1986 under the CACOPHONY moniker and they released two albums: Speed Metal Symphony (1987) and Go Off! (1988). Upon breaking up, Becker would join DAVID LEE ROTH's band and Friedman would be snapped up by Megadeth.

Becker is diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS - aka Lou Gehrig's Disease), but he continues composing with the aid of a computer.

In an EXCLUSIVE interview with BW&BK; recently (found in BW&BK; #102), Becker says that he's “currently working on two new songs for a Best Of Jason Becker CD. I’m still plugging away at writing my book, and I’m working with a writer/director/actor on a possible movie about my life. Amma (note: an international humanitarian) is making my communication system available in India. For music, I use LogicPro to compose and then I record musicians to play various parts. I use the eye grid to communicate every single thing to my caretaker who does everything for me that I ask, including typing.”
