In celebration of MOTÖRHEAD’s cannonating new slab Aftershock, BraveWords has decided to serve up a primer and reminder as to the 20 most shocking events in the life of Lem and Co! Conflate them, debate them... we’re presenting them in countdown form, until the day the quake reaches you! So read on and soak in all the gruesome glory and historical heavy metal!

#2 - Motörhead find their strengths and stride with album number four, Ace Of Spades, arguably their finest hour even to this this day, sharply produced by Vic Maile who worked with some of the biggest names in rock before his untimely death from cancer at 45. Aside from home (where it peaked at #4 in 1980), the album was hardly a commercial success, but no matter, the band's classic trio were spot on with 'Love Me Like A Reptile', '(We Are) The Road Crew', 'Jailbait', The Chase Is Better Than the Catch and the vicious album closer 'The Hammer'. But of course the title track is their trademark, played at virtually every live show and gaining hip status over time, more recently a slowed-down, bluesier version for the Kronenbourg 1664 beer campaign in 2010!

And the cover was something out of the '60s spaghetti westerns, Motörhead never looked more menacing, although the photo session took place in a sand pit outside of London, far from the wild, Wild West!
