OVER THE RAINBOW Launch MySpace Page; Interview With Jurgen "J.R." Blackmore Online
January 9, 2009, 15 years ago
OVER THE RAINBOW - the band featuring singer Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow 1980-1984), keyboardist Tony Carey (Rainbow 1975-1978), drummer Bobby Rondinelli (Rainbow 1980-1983), bassist Greg Smith (Rainbow 1994-1997) and guitarist Jurgen ("J.R.") Blackmore - have launched their official MySpace at this location.
In other news, Jurgen ("J.R.") Blackmore spoke with Hungary's Rockinform Magazine. Here are a few excerpts from the chat:
Rockinform Magazine: Your father is Ritchie Blackmore (ex-DEEP PURPLE). How do you feel about it, that he's a legendary guitarist?
Jürgen: "Oh well......it was a very hard childhood time for me because everyone is looking at you, as if you are something special...but I wasn't. I was just a normal boy and I hated it (the way people reacted). Mostly I never told anybody about my surname. I never bragged about it. But gossip travels fast in the music business.... so in the end people found it out. I am proud that my father is a great guitarist but I always only wanted a normal dad."
Rockinform Magazine: How did Over The Rainbow first come together?
Jürgen: "I did get an email and also a phone call from Joe Lynn Turner and Bobby Rondinelli. They told me about this project and asked me if I am maybe interested in it."
Rockinform Magazine: How did you become aware of the guitarist position in Over The Rainbow?
Jürgen: "After a long time of thinking and talking to my dad (yes this was such a moment I ask him ;-))... I said "yes.'"
