Report: AC/DC Triumph At UK Festival Awards

Billboard.biz has issued the following report from Richard Smirke, London:

Bestival won the title of best major festival at the UK Festival Awards, which were held in London last night (November 18th).

First established in 2004, this year's Bestival took place September 9th to 12th at Robin Hill park, Isle of Wight, and featured headline performances from DIZZEE RASCAL, THE FLAMING LIPS and PRODIGY. Spin-off event Camp Bestival, which took place July 30th to August in the surroundings of Lulworth Castle, Dorset, also won the best family festival prize at the awards ceremony, which was held at indigO2, housed within London's O2 complex.

Kendal Calling (July 30th to August 1st, Lowther Deer Park Estate, Cumbria) was named best small festival, while the best medium festival title went to Green Man, which ran August 20th to 22nd at the Brecon Beacons, Wales. DF Concerts CEO and T In The Park promoter Geoff Ellis was honored with a lifetime achievement award.

Other winners on the night included AC/DC, who won headline performance of the year for their set at Download festival, and MUMFORD AND SONS, who walked away with the prize for best breakthrough act.

PAOLO NUTINI was awarded the title of feelgood act of the summer, while FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE won the Anthem Of The Year prize for her cover of 'You Got The Love', originally performed by THE SOURCE Featuring CANDI STATON.
