The trend in the past few years to have large-scale rock concerts rocking Kavarna continues this summer. Following a number of one-off rock concerts in the previous few years at the initiative of Kavarna’s mayor Tsonko Tsonev, two rock music festivals have emerged since last year: Kavarna Rock Fest and Trash Til Death.

Kaliakra Rock Fest took place this year on June 28 to 30. As part of this year’s festival, some of world’s most popular rock bands were invited, such as MANOWAR, MOTÖRHEAD, HEAVEN AND HELL (with musicians from the legendary BLACK SABBATH). Heaven And Hell opened this year’s festival with a concert on June 28. Motörhead’s concert was on June 29, followed by Manowar on June 30. They were all organised by Joker Media and the municipality of Kavarna.

Independently of any rock festivals, LED ZEPPELIN’s former vocalist ROBERT PLANT will also soon perform at Kaliakra. The concert by the star, who is visiting Bulgaria for the second time since 1998, will be on July 6 at 8pm.

After long-lasting rumours that another legendary band, SEPULTURA, would also soon perform in Kavarna, organisers have officially announced that the band will indeed hold a concert there. The date is August 15. They are confirmed another hardcore rock festival in Kavarna, Thrash Til Death.

Organisers of this music festival are Ozz Music and the municipality of Kavarna.

With the success of the Kaliakra Rock Fest, which has been held for a number of years although under that name only since last year, there was momentum to expand the event. After last year’s performances by NAPALM DEATH, CLAYMORE, REVENGE PROJECT, and DESTRUCTION, and this year’s success in booking Sepultura, organisers are convinced that the festival will grow in popularity. They also plan to turn Trash Til Death into an annual summer tradition, following the steps of the Kavarna Rock Fest.

The festival is more for fans of extreme trash heavy metal style. This fest also takes place at the Kaliakra stadium. More performers will also soon be announced.
