Italian metallers RESURRECTURIS have issued the following update from Carlo Strappa:

"Some weeks ago Resurrecturis got contacted by Sergio of Scala Mercalli and Marco of SG Metal about this project for which they wanted to gather all metal musiciens from Marche (the Italian region where we were born) in order to pay a tribute to one of the most relevant personalities in metal music history, RONNIE JAMES DIO, in the moment of his illness (stomach cancer).

Their idea was simple and effective, they wanted to re-record the classic track 'Stars' by HEAR N' AID (the metal counterpart of Band Aid and USA For Africa). A song that was originally recorded in the eighties with the intent of collecting funds to battle against hunger in Africa.

Sergio, Marco and a host of metal musicians (including yours truly Carlo Strappa) spent a lot of time in a couple of studios, laying down the tracks and filming material for this project.

For me it was a pleasurable opportunity to spend some time with old time friends that I don't have too many chances to see at present time. I was really impressed by Sergio and Marco, and their contagious enthusiasm and ability to involve other people into this project! Unfortunately on May 16th, 2010 Ronnie James Dio lost his battle against stomach cancer, so he will never have the chance to listen to all this. I hope the record will be of some comfort to the members of his family, for it will show how much RJD was admired and loved by his fans.

An album including the cover of 'Stars' and a selection of songs by local metal bands is going to be released soon. Resu-song 'Where Shall I Go From Here?' will be included.

Other bands to take part to the project are: BATTLE RAM, BOTHERS, CENTVRION, DELIVERANCE, GUN FIRE, IBRIDOMA, INFERNAL POETRY, KURNALCOOL, SCALA MERCALLI, SYBILLA, SUN KING, T-ODIO.

Further details to follow.
