STRYPER vocalist/guitarist Michael Sweet has issued the following update in regards to his upcoming autobiography, titled Honestly:

"Writing and finishing my autobiography has gone WAY beyond my expectations, good and bad. It's been much more difficult than I could ever imagine yet it's been somewhat therapeutic being able to talk about my life and the past 30+ years of all things Stryper.

I get into everything and share things that may surprise you. I talk about the disfunction in this band, the pain and heartache of being so close to each other that we sometimes hurt each other the most, the ups and downs from our highest point (1987-1988) to our lowest point (1991-1992) and why we were driven to bankruptcy and how we climbed our way back from complete loss and despair. I share my personal pain from considering to give up music all together to the day I broke the news to the guys that I would be leaving the band and why. From that day forward I had everything a man could ask for and then, in what seemed like an instant, it was all taken away.

I'm almost 50 yet I feel like I've lived the life of a man who is almost 90. I look back on everything and all I can say is - Thank you God for allowing me to serve you and for giving me my gift, my life!

Honestly will be available soon and I can say from the bottom of my heart, it is brutally honest and my hopes and prayers are that it touches you in some way."

On February 16th, Stryper performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina at Teatro Flores. Fan-filmed video of the band covering the JUDAS PRIEST classic 'Breaking The Law' and KISS anthem 'Shout It Out Loud' is available below:

Sweet recently commented, “We're really excited about this record. The re-recorded songs are sounding awesome… better than the originals in many ways! One word to describe the record? Heavier. We've hooked up with some great people - we've got new management, a great album, a great label. We just feel like everything is coming together, and hopefully some big things are to follow."

Stryper is one of the top Christian rock bands of all time. Comprised of the original line-up of Michael Sweet (vocals/guitar), Oz Fox (guitar), Tim Gaines (bass), and Robert Sweet (drums), Stryper has been rocking since 1984, and is responsible for such '80s metal classic albums as Soldiers Under Command, To Hell With The Devil, In God We Trust and such MTV hit singles/videos as 'Calling On You', 'Free', and 'Honestly'.

After a sabbatical for much of the 1990's, Stryper returned strong in the early 21st century. To date, the band has sold upwards of 8 million records worldwide and is a Dove Award-winner and Grammy nominee. Stryper is the first band to have two songs in MTV’s Top 10 simultaneously.
