SUIDAKRA have checked in with the following US tour report:

"At the end of 2007, the organizers of Chicago Powerfest asked us to play at their festival for our first show on American soil. The hard work in the past had paid out for us once again. Luck was really on our side when we were planning to do a few shows around the States after the festival and we got the chance to join six of the west coast dates on the Paganfest USA tour. These shows included places all the way from Seattle down to Los Angeles, which was very appealing since we also liked the prospect of being a typical tourist in the short time available... ;o) So read what we experienced on our first US tour..."

May 1st:

"Departure from Düsseldorf airport, smoking enough cigarettes to last for the long flight (despite a changeover in Paris).

After a 12-hour flight, 3 movies on the plane, a Coca-Cola overdose and serious back and leg pain, we finally landed in Chicago. At immigration, our fingerprints and photographs were taken and we had to answer a lot of questions. After being physically and psychologically harassed, we could finally enjoy the land of opportunity. The first thing we did was to go to the Air France desk to give the address of our hotel to the nice clerk, as Lars' suitcase seemed to still be in Paris, and they needed to be able to get it to him the next day.

Shortly after we put out the first cigarettes in front of the airport (which we really, really needed, despite our preparations at the Düsseldorf airport), John (one of the Chicago Powerfest promoters), our manager Miriam (just arrived from Toronto) and Rick (our driver) came to pick us up. They told us we'd get to the motel in about 20 minutes, but due to three separate traffic jams, we actually arrived an hour later.

Next stop was the Pearl Room. On the day we arrived, Paganfest USA was playing there that night. We said hi to the other bands and crew and watched the show. We were waiting with anticipation to get on the stage for our own set... After that we chilled backstage, played some pool and checked out our new instruments that we bought in Germany from Sam Ash via internet and got it delivered to Chicago."
