Examiner.com's Mark Morton has issued an interview with SWASHBUCKLE guitarist Commodore Redrum. An excerpt follows:

Q: Having been around for such a short span of time, did you expect to experience so many highs and lows of the industry so quickly?

A: "Dude, when the Admiral and I were sitting in a fucking Denny's dreaming this shit up, we had NO idea what it would become. We expected to get a few listens on Myspace, and that's about it. We just wanted to have some fun, and damn it all if we still aren't having more fun than 99% of bands out there. I get to put on a tricorn hat, go up on stage, make fun of people, play some metal, and get paid. Do you get to do that?"

Q: What was the reason you have been somewhat off the grid for the past year or so in the states? You seemed to have a really big upswing in momentum that just died off.

A: "A couple different reasons:

1. We had a lineup change. Bootsmann Collins stepped out of the salty limelight to follow a different path. Legendary Pirate King Eric "The" Brown (L.P.K.) stepped in. That sort of thing always throws shit out of whack. And we fucking HATE teaching our songs to new musicians; absolutely hate it. We'd rather jerk ourselves off with one communal Brillo pad.

2. We wanted to focus on writing a new record. L.P.K. lives in Denver, CO, and we are based in Jersey. So literally everything we knew about writing music as a full band went out the window. It moved into a digital realm of file sharing, Dropboxing, BBM name calling, and occasional riff tweaking. This took us a little getting used to.

3. The industry of our genre is fickle as fuck and even though we have a decent following, it's not enough to keep a band of our size out of the shadows forever.

4. Music is stupid and no one should ever try to make a career out of it."
