UK metallers SYLOSIS have issued the following studio update:

"Finally, all of the rhythm guitars are finished! We've been very thorough, getting tight takes and re-writing riffs as we go etc but it's all been worthwhile. I've done like a song a day (thirteen songs in total - one of which wont make the album as we've got some long tracks).

This was going to be something we were guna keep as a secret to see if people even realised but this album is all in E standard - everything - and it sounds just as heavy! We've also only been using a 4 string bass tuned to E as well.?There are so many reasons for this - it sounds tight, clearer, more old school, you can afford to scoop a bit more midrange and you can really let the drums and bass provide more low end instead of everything sounding clicky and competing for the same frequency range.

There's something that feels inspiring and classic playing in E. Most of our biggest influences use standard tuning and it's really helped focus our sound and give us the tone we're after. We spend ages writing these riffs and now people can hear every single note we're playing. The definition is there and it's forcing us to tighten up our playing even more.

The riffage has been really tough in places. Tons of speedy alternate picking, down picking, string skipping etc. Not only that bit we're quad tracking the guitars (two tracks of guitars either side of the mix) which meant we had had to go for maximum tightness.

Anyways, we had enough of the caravan. It sucked so much that after about three weeks in there we couldn't bare it anymore so we upgraded ourselves into a Travelodge!"
