Rite Of Passage Records announces the addition of San Jose, CA’s THE WRATH OF VESUVIUS to its roster. The band will hit the studio later this summer to begin work on their upcoming full-length album, Revelation.

For now, a lyric video for the demo version of the title track, 'Revelation', can be seen below:

Formed in 2009, The Wrath Of Vesuvius has two previous releases, which the band put out independently. Additionally, the band has also toured along with west coast, playing with bands such as WHITECHAPEL, WINDS OF PLAGUE, WITHIN THE RUINS, and more. The combination of the independent releases and touring has helped the band build a sizeable following in the underground metal scene. It was the word of mouth buzz about the band that caught the attention of Rite Of Passage in early 2012. After a few meetings, both sides felt the pairing of the band and the label was right and an agreement was signed.

“We were drawn to Rite of Passage because we’ve known about Mediaskare Records (ROP’s parent label) for years and know that they take care of their bands if they work hard,” stated the band. “We saw how other bands on the roster have grown and felt that Rite of Passage was the best fit to call home for The Wrath Of Vesuvius.”

The band’s debut album for the label, Revelation, will be released in early 2013 and speaking on the album, the band had the following to say about what fans can expect from it: “We took a different approach to our songs this time around, such as having an overall darker feel and mood. There are multiple themes that play a role both lyrically and instrumentally;” adding “In the title track of our new album, “Revelation”, the lyrics explain a very hopeless outlook on life, and it lays the groundwork for all the themes throughout the album. ‘Revelation’ contains negative themes along the lines of compulsive behavior, anxiety, depression, and the self-abuse that might entail.”

The album is not all dark and depressing though, the band added, “Revelation has positive outlooks as well, such as chasing one’s passions at all costs in order to feel content with life at the end of the day - despite being lost from the start.”
