UNDER EDEN - New Drummer Announced
October 30, 2009, 15 years ago
Minnesota's UNDER EDEN has issued the following update:
"As a handful of people reading this may have already been aware, our good friend and original drummer Josh Fetzek announced his departure from Under Eden at the end of August. Although this was unfortunate for us as a band, it wasn't entirely unexpected - Josh was getting married and was also increasingly busy playing in Nailed Shut (with his wife) - so there was no bad blood. Being that Josh had completed his drum tracks for the next album well in advance, and our only scheduled show had been double-booked and therefore cancelled, the only immediate effect was that we wouldn't be scheduling any new dates. That brings us to our new drummer: Jamie Strobach. In addition to being a part of the extended Under Eden family for many years (engineer on The Savage Circle and mastering engineer on Phoenix on Frozen Wings) he is also a very established drummer, having played with numerous bands - FORGOTTEN SUN, SEVENTH CALLING, IMPALER, COLD COLOURS and currently SHADOWCRAFT - and has remained very involved with Under Eden over the years. That being the case, he was the first person we asked once Josh informed us of his decision.
Since we still have a bit of work to do on The Science Of Self-Defeat, we are splitting our time between finishing that and getting Jamie up to speed on the new songs; he already knew the old songs to some extent. We don't plan to schedule any shows for the remainder of 2009, as we hope to find a new label once recording is finished and the album is ready for mixing. In the interim, we will sneak some song previews onto our MySpace page just as soon as we think they're ready for public consumption."
