Radio Metal reports:

Following the cancellation of American band W.A.S.P’s concert in Lyon last Tuesday, it was their date in Marseille that suffered the same fate. It appears that once again W.A.S.P management had high technical expectations that deterred the organisers from hosting the event at 9 PM in the Cabaret Aléatoire.

We have led our own little investigation and discovered that in mid-October (just before the tour began) W.A.S.P. terminated their contract with their European promotions agency and that it is the band’s management themselves that are currently conducting the European Tour. The result of this is that some French dates have been cancelled in the same way that some of the German dates were also previously dropped. It seems that at the moment W.A.S.P’s contractual situation in Europe is rather sensitive.

Furthermore, within this organisational chaos, the band’s management are demanding new financial and technical conditions from the local promoters (such as more equipment, last minute support acts to be added…).

According to our sources, the new conditions claimed by the band’s management is problematic since they only match large venues such as the Zénith or Olympia in Paris and they do not conform to smaller “club-like” venues like the Ninkasi Kao (Lyon) or the Cabaret Aléatoire (Marseille).

After the Lyon fiasco – the Toulouse date last night was maintained despite almost being cancelled – the organiser from Marseille decided to cancel the concert in order to avoid that the crowds should turn up for nothing and that they find themselves in the same situation as the Lyon fans.
