Favored Nations reports:

In the early 1980's, STEVE VAI had just moved to California and bought a house in rural Sylmar. At the time, it was a place with more animals than people, very different than what it is today. Steve's little house out in the wilderness was a place where wayward musicians could come, record music and call home. This was also the site of Steve's first hand built studio known as Stucco Blue.

This album was created by Vai's college pal, Marty Schwartz, and has performances from many of Zappa's alumni including keyboardist Tommy Mars, vocalist Bob Harris and even Steve Vai himself, who is listed as "Reckless Fable" on the track 'Western Vacation'!

This album has been beautifully remasterd in the Audio Laundry Mastering Lab, located in Steve's Encino studio directly from the original 8-track tapes. This deluxe reissue features a wonderful booklet featuring an essay from Steve Vai and legendary writer/publicist Laurel Fishman.

Listen to Western Vacation and you will be transported back in time to the rural mountains in Sylmar. As Steve Vai puts it, "This album captures that time and place with those wonderful friends".
