Dailyprogress.com is reporting:
Tipsters in the case of a missing Virginia Tech student have told authorities they saw a woman resembling Morgan D. Harrington with a minor scrape on her face the night Harrington disappeared.
Corinne Geller, a Virginia State Police spokeswoman, said Friday that the injury would be consistent with a slip or fall, not an assault.
Authorities are continuing to follow leads in search of Harrington, who disappeared Oct. 17 after she ended up outside the John Paul Jones Arena and was not readmitted as per arena event policy. Harrington, 20, was in town with friends attending a METALLICA concert.
Police have said a person matching Harrington’s description was seen at around 9:30 that night on a bridge near Ivy Road.
Anyone who may have information about Harrington’s disappearance should call the state police tip hotline at 352-3467 or e-mail bci-appomattox@vsp.virginia.gov . Harrington’s parents also are urging people to check their Web site, http://www.findmorgan.com, for more details on the investigation.
Crimestoppers is offering a $100,000 reward, plus an additional $50,000 that Metallica is reportedly contributing.
