Greg Renoff’s book, Van Halen Rising: How A Backyard Party Band Saved Heavy Metal, will be published by ECW Press in 2015.

According to a press release, “it will be the first book to tell the untold story of how rock legends Van Halen made the unlikely journey from the backyards of Pasadena, California to the worldwide stage during the 1970s.

Six years in the making, Van Halen Rising draws on extensive archival research and on more than 200 original interviews, including such Van Halen luminaries as Michael Anthony, Ted Templeman, Donn Landee, Pete Angelus and Marshall Berle, along with club owners, fans, and fellow musicians.

If you've ever wondered what it was like to see Van Halen play a massive backyard party, host a rowdy wet-t-shirt contest, perform on the legendary Sunset Strip, and blow rock legends Black Sabbath off the stage, this is the book for you!”
