Acclaimed guitarist/songwriter Dave Kushner (VELVET REVOLVER) has received a 2009 Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Main Title Theme Music” for the title track from the FX television series Sons Of Anarchy.

Kushner collaborated with award-winning producer and songwriter Bob Thiele Jr. on the music. To hear the music and view the show intro, please go to davekushner.com/news.

Sons Of Anarchy”is an adrenalized drama with darkly comedic undertones about a notorious outlaw motorcycle club intent on protecting their sheltered small town against encroaching drug dealers, corporate developers and overzealous law officers.

Commenting on the recent nomination and creating the theme music for the show, Kushner said, "Can you think of a cooler show to work on than one titled Sons of Anarchy? This show symbolizes the spirit of rebellion that rock n' roll is all about. 'Sons' is an incredibly intense drama about family and the things we do for love and money when we're not presented the same opportunity others are."

He continues: “To echo the sentiments of my ole' pal Bob, I am honored to be recognized by and to receive this nomination from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences."

Beyond his work with Velvet Revolver since their formation in 2002, Kushner continues to expand his creative palette and receive critical acclaim for his work.

In January 2009, Dave was named “One of The 50 Greatest Unsung Guitar Heroes Ever” by the UK’s Total Guitar Magazine. In the last two years, he’s worked with long time friend John O’Brien (composer/music supervisor) collaborating and writing music for Vince Vaughn’s Four Christmases and Couples Retreat. He was also called upon by Fox creative director Dave Warren and The Simpsons segment director Ralph Sosa, to develop a spinoff of How I Met Your Mother, entitled The Bro Code.

Dave is currently working on a new music project with singer/songwriter Franky Perez.

Throughout his career, Kushner has collaborated and worked with several respected talents in the music community including: TOMMY LEE, RICK RUBIN, INFECTIOUS GROOVES, MIKE MUIR (with SEX PISTOLS’ guitarist Steve Jones), DANZIG and DAVE NAVARRO (musical director/Trust No One record and tour).

In between writing and touring with Velvet Revolver, Dave also had the opportunity to collaborate with musical greats STEVIE WONDER, BRIAN WILSON, STEVEN TYLER, BILLY JOE ARMSTRONG and BONO, by performing 'Across the Universe' at the 2004 Grammy Awards.
