UGO.com's Greg Prato has issued an interview with bassist Hváll Kvåle of Norwegian black metallers VREID. The following is an excerpt:
Q: In your estimation, what's the darkest, blackest of black metal bands?
A: "I am not really bothered by these terms. But for me I think EMPEROR and IMMORTAL are two of the strongest bands that have been tagged as black metal."
Q: Does one have to have a black heart to perform black metal?
A: "To follow your heart regardless of its colour is the way to go in my opinion. I don't seek out to be evil or dark or any of that bullshit. I just walk my own path, and create art that I enjoy."
