According to UK's The Star, well-wishers turned up in their droves to see DEF LEPPARD's Rick Allen official open the new Amy's House respite centre.

Sheffield's Lord Mayor Coun Alan Law helped the rock 'n' roll legend open the centre by releasing hundreds of balloons as the sun broke through the clouds.

The drummer, who is the charity's patron, also made a speech at the Ballifield Primary School - the charity's new site.

The centre will provide the chance for children with special needs to play and learn together and at the same time give their parents a well-deserved break.

The centre is open from 10am to 3pm on a Saturday during term time and Monday to Friday during the school holidays.

Kids can enjoy activities from painting to football as well as regular excursions.
