Filmed live on Halloween night 2009 at Voodoo Experience in New Orleans, LA, Live Voodoo captures the reunion of the classic Jane’s Addiction lineup – vocalist Perry Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins, bassist Eric Avery and guitarist Dave Navarro – in a truly mesmerizing performance. Looking like a flamboyant superhero, complete with transparent blue cape, Farrell toasts the crowd with a bottle of red wine. Conversely, Navarro is cool characterized, occasionally dragging on a cigarette. Unique personalities that come together on this darkly lit stage to cast a spell over their audience. The magical 13-song set ignores 2003’s Strays album; Avery did not play on that release. Instead, Jane’s Addiction focus on the best of the best from their self-titled debut, Nothing’s Shocking and Ritual De Lo Habitual; including a “live cantina” version of ‘Jane Says’, during which the band is joined on stage by a cavalcade of costumed dancers. Bonus features consist of: ‘1%’ and ‘Ocean Size’ played in a cramped Los Angeles club in 2008, a NME featurette highlighting Jane’s Addiction’s performance at London’s O2 Arena in 2009 as well as brief band interviews, and an unnecessary photo gallery of stills taken from the main Voodoo show. Also included is an eight-page booklet.
