CBC News is reporting:

Concert organizers are bracing for a potential record turnout at Thursday night's outdoor AC/DC show in Moncton.

Donald Tarlton said that as of Wednesday night, more than 55,000 tickets had been sold.

And with a sunny forecast, Tarlton said he is expecting thousands more to buy tickets on Thursday.

"We're expecting a good walk-up and we've set up several booths to handle the anticipated people," he said.

"We look like we're going to be well north of 60,000 and we have a chance to go for the record."

When Moncton hosted the Rolling Stones in 2005, the first outdoor mega concert at the Magnetic Hill venue, roughly 78,000 fans showed up.

RCMP warn drivers to avoid concert area

Whatever the final tally, Codiac RCMP are warning drivers and pedestrians to take care if they're in the concert area.

This is the first time a Magnetic Hill concert has been held on a weekday. And with commuters and AC/DC fans using the roads, traffic is expected to be the biggest challenge.

Some fans, like John Vautour and Daniel LeClair, have successfully managed to avoid any traffic getting to the concert site. They started lining up for the concert at 4 a.m. on Thursday.

The cousins from Neguac, N.B., say they've been dreaming of this day since they were five years old, jamming to AC/DC's album Back in Black using a tennis racket as a guitar.

Robert Beretto and Eli Hollett drove in from Pictou, N.S., on Wednesday and spent the night in their car waiting for the concert to start.

Beretto and Hollett hope to get prime spots at the outdoor concert, so they've devised a simple strategy.

"Run like hell, yup, run like hell," one friend said.

"And we've been surviving on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so we're going to be pretty edgy by the time the gates open. It's the best rock 'n' roll show in the world and people are going to learn something here tonight."
