Wolf Hoffmann, founding guitarist for German metal legends, is featured in a new audio interview with Bryan Reesman at Attention Deficit Delirium. Check it out via the audio player below:
Excerpts from chat read as follows:
On recording another Accept album for a 2012 release: "That's the goal. This last record took about two or three months to write and then another two or three months to record. It really shouldn't be any different this time around. I don't see any reason why it couldn't go as fast and as well. We're going to go back in the studio here before long. As soon as we come off the road, we're going to attack it full force and write some new stuff as fast as we can."
On unreleased tracks from their recent album: "For Blood Of The Nations we wrote a truckload of songs that never got published. We'll probably revisit them and see how it goes, but more likely we'll write some better and newer stuff by that time."
On fan expectations with new material: "One challenge for us when we're writing stuff is you always have this back catalog that's like a sword dangling over your head. You can't write anything that you've already written. It can't be too close to the existing stuff. But at the same time, you can't go and leave your ways. Stylistically it can't be too far apart from what you're known for, so you really have to write something that sounds just like the old stuff without sounding just like the old stuff. It's really tough sometimes."
On working with corporate clients as a photographer prior to the Accept reunion: "I find more often than not when I talk with my clients that a lot of times they are metal fans in disguise. I'll be in a boardroom somewhere with a client from an energy company, and we start talking. 'What's a German guy doing in Nashville? How did you come to the States?' I tell them the story, and it turns out they're metal fans themselves. And a lot of times they even have my record at home. We're all metal fans at a certain point here. It's bizarre. Closet metal fans in corporations."
On his Classical album and proposed concert idea: "The project I really want to do is that Classical thing. That's one of my top priorities in the next few years that I can hopefully get going. Obviously I'm so busy with Accept right now that there's hardly any room for major stuff on the side."
