ANGER AS ART vocalist/guitarist Steve Gaines has issued the following update:

"So, we are just about complete with the concert DVD. It goes by the title of Live Dissent and it features concert footage from a recent show in Southern California, some footage of us on tour in Europe and in the USA, and a segment of the recording process for the Disfigure album. Best part? We have a street date of Saturday, May 8th, 2010, and the first people who can buy a copy will be attendees of the 5th annual Thrasho de Mayo show in Los Angeles. Look for the Anger As Art table when you are there - we are all going to be there - actually, Rob HAS to be there no matter what!"

Following is an excerpt from an interview with Gaines conducted late last year:

Q: Do you have any thought about how you are perceived as an artist, or guitarist, songwriter?

Gaines: "Not really… I just do what I do. I had someone ask me online to tab out a song from the first album for them, and when I told them I have no idea how tab works, they flipped out. By the same token, I don’t think anyone ever went to Johnny Ramone and asked him to tab any songs out. It should not be about slide rule and calculator… it should be from the heart. I can figure out any RAMONES song by listening to it – songs should relate on that level. I remember David Gilmour talking about people coming to him saying 'I figured out how to play your song (forget the title)'. They would play it, and he’d reply 'it is not as difficult as you make it' – then he’d play it how it really goes, and the people would be disappointed that it was so simple. WHY? Most of what PINK FLOYD did was so heavy… does it matter that it was simple? I had the same problem with previous members of AAA – they would make things more difficult because they were musician types. I suppose what I would want people to say - is that I got my emotional point across, and that it was easily understood. I would rather be Johnny Ramone than John Petrucci any day of the week."
