ANGER AS ART Vs. ABATTOIR
March 17, 2009, 15 years ago
Steve Gaines, vocalist for both ANGER AS ART and ABATTOIR has issued the following update:
"So, the press releases have gone out... and people know that Abattoir is actually touring Europe. So, what happens with Anger As Art in the short term? Right about the time I get on a plane, the guys will be ready to go in and start tracking. We take a couple of days off, hit it hard for a week, and then start laying down drums. The entire recording of AAA's Disfigure album should be complete by the end of May. We are considering working with OSM Records to do pre-orders for the album - more on that soon!As long as I have your eyes here, let me take a moment to wax poetic about Abattoir touring - in Europe, no less! In and of itself, it is a miracle. I have always stated that Abattoir is a lot like that classic muscle car that you have in your garage. You know, it is always broken down, needs parts, is horribly innefficient and unsafe. It costs you money even when it sits there doing nothing. BUT - you love it... could never sell it. You sneak out to the garage, work on it a little, find just the right deal on parts, and on those rare occasions when you actually get her running and out on the road, you know why you love it. It is the ultimate machine of your youth. Put her in the starting blocks and race for 'pinks', and you will win every challenge... hoping she holds up long enough to get her back home! Yeah, I know it sounds stupid, but it clearly is the best analogy.
And the idea that Juan... I mean, c'mon - friggin Juan Garcia - has come back for this... what a treat for not only us, but for the fans! You know Juan from AGENT STEEL and EVIL DEAD, I know him from Abattoir! Back when I would pay to see them play, Juan and Mel were two of the scariest people you could hope to see. All of that venom and rage just spills out of these guys in these songs that still charge me up like they did 25 years ago (has it been that long?). I was a little bummed out when Mark decided to sit the tour out, until I heard how mightily Tim Thomas plays these parts. And Rob on drums? This guy roadied for all the Abattoir drummers (Ron, Robert, and Danny), and could sit down and play their parts anytime - then brought that rage to Evil Dead... and, we are doing some Evil Dead material as well. What more could you want? For me, I need to make sure that I don't stop and watch the guys play like a fan boy! I have a job to do.
When this tour is done, there is no guarantee that Abattoir will ever do anything again. I will be shifting back to AAA mode, and all of the guys will go back to what they do! Don't miss this, you maniacs! This is where thrash came from!"
