Author, musician, and host of the Glory Is Noise online radio show, Joel Gausten has issued the following update:

"Due to some recent (and very positive) changes on the professional front, as well as a desire to devote more time to other creative endeavors, I have decided to take a hiatus from producing Glory Is Noise. My deepest thanks to everyone who listened to and regularly supported the show, as well as to Bravewords.com and other sites that often publicized (and sometimes streamed) the show to the masses.

Thanks to Radio Free Satan program director Tiberia Nine, who gave me the opportunity to create a show my way, without boundaries or restrictions.

Thanks to my better half, Shannon, who served as my long-suffered technical assistant and, for our Peter Steele tribute episode, my co-host.

Thanks to the many special guests and contributors for making Glory Is Noise what it was: Mr. Bill Ward, Eric Singer, Bob Daisley, Bobby Steele, Gitane DeMone, Zara Kand, Duckie Rodriguez, Troy Gregory, Martin Atkins, Richard Lloyd, Carl Begai, Mike Coles, Lee Popa, Dan Lorenzo, Alan Tecchio, Paul Roessler, Sal Canzonieri, Dim Wanker, Dave Ingram, David O. Jones, Dave Travis, Loren Molinare and Steve Ignorant.

The biggest thanks of all to my first-ever guest and one of the most supportive friends I’ve ever known, Steve Zing, who signed on to do Glory Is Noise when it was nothing more than an idea in an email.

I plan to eventually post the interview segments from the past episodes up on YouTube, but this is on the bottom of a rather long 'to do' list and will take some time to accomplish. It’s my sincere hope that followers of Glory Is Noise will continue to support Radio Free Satan and other media entities functioning completely under the stream of listener funding. This is the truest form of media we have in this world. Don’t neglect it.

Future plans on my end include publishing the expanded 5th Anniversary Edition of Tales Of Horror: The History of THE MISFITS & THE UNDEAD later this year, as well as participating in a new music project with old friends Dim Wanker (F-WORD) and Dan Canzonieri (ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN / SHADOW PROJECT). Stay tuned.

Again, thanks to everyone who supported Glory Is Noise!"

Glory Is Noise

August 14, 2011

"As a post script, I would be remiss if I didn't also thank Angela and Michael from ARCH ENENY for kindly promoting Glory Is Noise on their Twitter account!"

As previously reported, in celebration of his 25th year in music, Gausten (PIGFACE, ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN, THE UNDEAD, EFFECTIONHATE) has issued his first-ever solo release, Snake Bite Blues, available as a free download at GaustenBooks.com.

Gausten is joined on the experimental five-song EP by former Public Image Ltd (PiL) bassist Pete Jones, classical guitarist Sonny Bellavance and keyboardist Shannon Gausten (Effectionhate), with additional percussion supplied by Keith LeBlanc (TACKHEAD / MINISTRY). Instruments on the free-form collection range from the conventional (bass, acoustic guitar) to the surreal (running water, flesh).

"The music on this EP is like nothing I’ve ever done before," Gausten says. "With this project, I indulged my interests in experimentation. The sounds on

this release are sometimes similar to what you might expect to hear on a THROBBING GRISTLE or early Pigface album - but mixed with some very melodic surprises along the way, courtesy of the guest musicians who so graciously contributed their time and talents."

A drummer since age 9, Gausten has appeared on nearly 60 albums, EPs and internationally-distributed compilations with such acts as Electric Frankenstein, The Undead, THE SIXTH CHAMBER, BROKEN HEROES and THE GRAVEYAED SCHOOL. He was a sporadic member of The Undead from 1998 to 2008. In 2001, he performed as a member of Pigface alongside Martin Atkins (KILLING JOKE), Chris Connelly (REVOLTING COCKS), Charles Levi (MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL CULT) and Chris Haskett (ROLLINS BAND). In 1995, he rehearsed with the MISFITS as a fill-in drummer and later appeared on a number of Misfits bootlegs recorded during these rehearsal sessions. He is currently a member of the electronic project, Effectionhate.

Gausten's books include Tales of Horror: The History Of The Misfits & The Undead, and From Satan to Sabbath: The Metal Interviews 2000-2009. Gausten's upcoming books include Rock ‘N’ Roll Monster: The Rik L Rik Story and Albums That (Should've) Changed the World. He was also a contributor to/editor for Martin Atkins' best-selling 2007 book, Tour:Smart, alongside such notables as Henry Rollins and Steve Albini.
