Peaceville Records are set to release a vinyl edition of the reissue of AUTOPSY's seminal debut album, Severed Survival.

Says the label:

"One of the early death metal acts and no stranger to controversy over the years, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco and released four albums on Peaceville Records before disbanding in 1995 and going on to form ABSCESS.

The band notably features legendary drummer Chris Reifert, who began his recording career with US metal greats, DEATH, before taking on the unusual duty of handling drums and vocals for Autopsy. Autopsy has influenced a whole generation of extreme metal bands, from EMTOMBED and DISMEMBER to DARKTHRONE.

Severed Survival is (rightly) hailed as one of death metal’s finest releases. A completely rotten and uncompromising sound - dirty, sludgy, death and doom metal mixed in with repulsive tales of death and disease - it was originally released in April 1989.

This vinyl edition of the album is limited to 1,000 numbered copies, comes on blue vinyl in a gatefold sleeve featuring the uncensored original art. It also includes a free poster of the alternate artwork (surgeons).

It is available to pre-order now at the Peaceville store and will ship from June 29th."
