BAD COMPANY's 40th Anniversary Celebrated On In The Studio; Part 1 Features Interviews With Paul Rodgers, Mick Ralphs, Simon Kirke

The 40th anniversary of BAD COMPANY is being celebrated this week on In The Studio, hosted by professional radio broadcaster and rock musician interviewer Redbeard.
Says Redbeard: "By May 1974 anticipation for a new British “supergroup” called Bad Company had built into quite a buzz , based on the pedigrees of the players involved. Singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke were from English bluesrockers FREE, a young band which had scored a hit with 'All Right Now' early in their career, but by 1974 had broken up – twice. On the other hand, Bad Company guitarist Mick Ralphs was finally enjoying some overdue success with IAN HUNTER and MOTT THE HOOPLE. But Mott’s breakthrough with 'All the Young Dudes' came from outside of the band via producer DAVID BOWIE, which altered that band’s direction and left Ralphs with songs unsung. A chance meeting backstage while Rodgers and Ralphs were on a double bill resulted in a songwriting collaboration in Rodger’s English country cottage forty years ago that yielded 'Can’t Get Enough', 'Movin’ On', the famous theme song 'Bad Company', Ralphs’ song he brought over from the Mott days, 'Ready For Love', and later 'Good Lovin’ Gone Bad', 'Feel Like Makin’ Love', and 'Shooting Star'.
