Bassist TONY FRANKLIN To Play Primo Maggio Event In Italy With VASCO ROSSI
April 23, 2009, 15 years ago
Bassist TONY FRANKLIN (ex-WHITESNAKE, BLUE MURDER, THE FIRM) has issued the following update:
"I'm excited to be performing with VASCO ROSSI, May 1st in Rome, Italy. This is a huge concert (attended by about 1 million people - televised to 25 million)... check it out:"The season of the big rock concerts in Italy opens, as usual, with the gigantic festival Primo Maggio, which takes place on the 1st of May in Rome. This is a very tempting event for all rock and live music lovers: a number of bands perform every year on the stage set up in Piazza San Giovanni, showcasing the best of Italian music, but hosting also important international bands."
"The City of Rome has landed Italian rock star Vasco Rossi for it's famous free May 1st concert in Piazza San Giovanni. The full-blown live show by Italy’s answer to BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN is to be his sole live performance of 2009 (following a nationwide tour last year) so locals will be bracing themselves for a major invasion of Rossi’s legions of fans come the date.
"Italian rock stars are not generally well-known in English-speaking countries – the ‘blues-man’ ZUCCHERO being perhaps the one exception and he largely as a result of the 80s hit single ‘Senza Una Donna’ sung alongside British singer PAUL YOUNG – yet their popularity in their home country can sometimes surprise the unsuspecting foreigner. Rossi is arguably the biggest of them all; a denim-clad ruffian who has never shied away from playing up the rock-n-roll lifestyle, both in his lyrics and his daily habits.
Born in Zocca, Emilia-Romagna, Rossi has recorded 21 albums, including live work, stretching back to his début in the late 1970s".
Hope to see you there!
Tony."
