The Gods & Guns Tour featuring LYNYRD SKYNYRD, BRET MICHAELS, and .38 SPECIAL rolled into the Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA on July 1 performing to a sea of die-hard Southern rock fans. This is the perfect tour for the POISON frontman Bret Michaels to showcase his bluesy country roots and he took full advantage of the opportunity.
Michaels hit the stage for a 45-minute set packed with Poison hits and songs from his upcoming solo release Custom Built slated for a July 6th release in which the band performed a remake of the classic 'Every Rose Has It's Thorn' and also debut the new blues oriented song 'What I Got'. Although you could tell Bret was still in some pain as he limped around onstage, the relentless energy of the band and his performance was exhilarating.
Michaels took a moment to comment on his upcoming solo release Custom Built. "Every song contains a piece of my heart," he comments. "Yeah know, I love all types of music and on this album I get to display my country side. There are a lot of acoustic ballads and country vibe on it."
About the tour Michaels added: "We are honored to be on this tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is going great. Yeah know not once when I was laying in that hospital bed did the Lynyrd Skynyrd guys give up on me. That says a lot."
