December 2, 2007, 16 years ago
English anarcho punks BURNT CROSS have released a new album entitled Carcass Of Humanity as part of a new sliding scale download series through Canada's Moshpit Tragedy Records.
The ten-song politically charged release is now available on the label's website complete with a print-ready sleeve for as much or as little as each visitor chooses and is even being offered for free to those without a paypal account. An audio sample and cover art for the release is available at www.myspace.com/mptrecords.
Guitarist/songwriter Rob Marriot offers the following statement on the band's MySpace: "Burnt Cross were formed in January 2007 after a friend was gonna throw his old guitar out, so I took it and decided to learn a couple of old punk songs so that my twin brother (vocalist/lyricist Paul Marriot) and I could go into a studio and lay them down just as a personal project for ourselves. I then came across a cheap eight-track with in-built drum machine, brought a cheap mic and ended up doing the songs in my bedroom, with the guitar doubling up as a bass. The music is similiar to what we were doing over 15 years ago when we last played in a band together so neither of us had done any music for years, in fact I still only know the same two guitar chords."
