BW&BK Exclusive: E-FORCE Frontman ERIC FORREST On New Album - "I’m Happy With It; It’s Still Pretty Rewarding"

BW&BK; recently caught up with E-FORCE / ex-VOIVOD frontman Eric Forrest to discuss the band's new album, Modified Poison, and his ongoing work with PROJECT: FAILING FLESH. The following is an excerpt from the interview:
“The first record came out in October 2003, so when I moved to France it took some time to find new members and play some shows,” Forrest says of the long wait between albums. “At the beginning of 2005 we had the chance to tour, and it was either then or never if I wanted to support Evil Forces. After we took a break for six months, parted ways with the touring members which was for the better, found a guitar player and started writing. From that point I started shopping for a new label and had to wait about a year for the release of Modified Poison, which really wasn’t my decision. But, it’s finally out there.”Still, Forrest is satisfied with the end result more than he is frustrated with releasing what is essentially “old” material.
“It’s a bit of both, really. Like any artist I want to top my last creation, but going from Day 1 to hearing it now I have a different opinion about the music compared to a fan, who finds it fresh and new. But, going with the vision I had, working with different players and, in a way, maximizing everything, I’m happy with it. It’s still pretty rewarding.”Forrest has also cut two albums with Project: Failing Flesh, A Beautiful Sickness and The Conjoined. It is a partnership that continues to get stronger.
“It’s really cool to work with Kevin (131) and Tim (Gutierrez) and be a part of their baby, basically," says Forrest. "For the moment it’s just a project, but they have a studio in Virginia so I basically just prepare and then go over, finish writing the lyrics with them and record my tracks. It’s really a lot of fun because I just have to show up and do this and that. It’s a lot different from being in E-Force, where I have to worry about all the details. I don’t mind being a hired hand; it’s a great opportunity for me to be working with those guys. We’ve talked about it. It just depends on the financial aspect of doing that, but we’d like to play some shows in the future, definitely."
