CAMP FREDDY / BILLY IDOL guitarist Billy Morrison has issued the following update:

"When you're just a kid, learning to play guitar... forming bands, trying to get gigs... watching your heroes on TV do what you want to do so badly.... the thought of having a signature guitar - a guitar designed to look, feel and sound exactly how you would want it - is beyond your imagination. And for me, as a kid, the Gibson Les Paul was the guitar that the cool people played. The people that made the music I loved, that were in the bands that turned me on and made me feel alive. From Jimmy Page in LED ZEPPELIN, through Steve Jones of the SEX PISTOLS, Mick Ronson with DAVID BOWIE, and on into the Slash / GUNS N' ROSES thing - that guitar was revered. The concept of being able to design one and put my name on it was simply beyond me. And yet yesterday, at the 2011 NAMM Show in Anaheim, I held a Gibson Billy Morrison Signature Les Paul. The feeling was beyond - very internal, and very deep. This year the Billy Morrison Les Paul will be in guitar stores, and it is an absolute honor I never, in a million years, thought would happen.

It really is a gorgeous guitar - simple and effective. The weight is pretty light, but not chambered. The pick ups are Seymour Duncans - the ones I use in all my live guitars. The frets are jumbo 6100 and gold (like the rest of the hardware). Tonepro bridge, beautiful neck profile that makes it feel like a dream to play. And its finished in antique white with a matching, unique, antique white headstock with black pearl logos. A standard, but with Custom binding on the top (I love the way that looks, but don't like the feel of the custom). I watched in amazement as kids, buyers and random guitar afficionados walked up to the display, picked it up and played it, and nodded with approval. Everyone from Gibson was there, and they all made me feel welcome and congratulated me on the guitar. Quite frankly, I'm still blown away. I hope that anyone who plays one enjoys it as much as I do - and the next tour I do.... my guitar rack will be filled with Morrison Les Pauls."
