Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS are currently preparing their new and last album, tentatively scheduled for a spring 2012 release via Napalm Records.
After a six month writing period the band spent two weekends in October in a Stockholm studio. In all, eight songs were recorded for demo purposes. In December, the band will record the album “properly”, but it’s too early to say how many songs will be recorded.
Says the band: "Leif has got about 11 – 12 tracks written and Candlemass are now rehearsing their asses off in the rehearsal room. Click (here) and you’ll see some photos from the pre-production stage of this process. Mappes injured hand and his “open-body-surgery” of his guitar… Jans drums, Lars new cool guitar… the Athens poster… the slippers!! More will follow!"
Upon their signing to Napalm, Candlemass commented: "Now it is official, Swedish doom 'meisters' Candlemass have signed with Austrian Napalm Records for their 11th and last studio album. The band is very happy and excited about this and are looking forward to work with such a great and growing label as Napalm, home of cool bands like MONSTER MAGNET, KARMA TO BURN and ISOLE."
