CARL VERHEYEN is releasing his new album on September 25 on Cranktone Entertainment via www.theconneXtion.com. Trading 8s is Verheyen’s tenth studio album to date and is an impressive musical collection that showcases his endless talents.

Trading 8s, which literally means trading 8-bar phrases with another soloist, raises the excitement level as each player is challenged to respond musically. “It was in this spirit - not the dueling or cutting session mentality - that I approached the making of Trading 8s,” explains Verheyen. “I chose heroes and old friends, mentors and inspirational icons, peers and trailblazers, to record these songs with me. That passion was there from the first note to the last and I believe we created the most inspiring CD I've done to date. I tracked with my road-tested touring band of bass player Dave Marotta and drummer Walfredo Reyes, Jr., with additional support on B-3 and piano from Jim Cox. And the result: I'm extremely proud of this record and the contributions from the soloists - Steve Morse (DEEP PURPLE), JOE BONAMASSA, RICK VITO, SCOTT HENDERSON, ROBBEN FORD and ALBERT LEE.”

In his 40-plus years of playing the instrument, Verheyen has created a wildly successful, multi-faceted career. In addition to his solo work, he has been one of LA’s elite “first call” session players for the past 25 years, playing on hundreds of records, movie soundtracks and television shows. As a member and featured soloist of the British rock group Supertramp since 1985, Verheyen has played to millions of enthusiastic fans in sold out arenas worldwide. As the creative force behind The Carl Verheyen Band, he has released an impressive and eclectic discography that showcases his endless talents across a wide array of musical genres.

Trading 8s is a true rock record fused with the blues, as in the song 'New Year’s Day' with Robben Ford. Some jazz fusion tones can be felt in 'Highway 27' featuring Joe Bonamassa. The CD also includes a ripping version of THE BEATLES’ hit song 'Taxman' as you’ve never heard it before.
