Groundbreaking drummer CARMINE APPICE was presented with the first-ever Bonzo Bash Legend Award on June 1st at the Bonzo Bash East Coast Invasion at Bergen PAC in Englewood, New Jersey. The Bonzo Bash is an all-star tribute to LED ZEPPELIN's John Bonham - celebrating his birthday and music - featuring the top drummers in rock music today. The event is sponsored by Modern Drummer magazine.

Carmine was recognized for his contributions to drumming since 1967 and his influence on Bonham. Carmine and KISS drummer PETER CRISS were both honored with awards. Carmine also acted as co-host for all three Bonzo shows, including the May 30th event held at the Gramercy Theater in Manhattan and May 31st event at Revolution Bar & Grill on Long Island. Joining Carmine to co-host Saturday's finale in New Jersey was VH1’s That Metal Show's Eddie Trunk.

2013 Bonzo Bash Founders Legend Award recipient Peter Criss of KISS - who was not present at the event - sent his congratulations to Carmine, stating: "I would like to congratulate my dear friend Carmine Appice who truly deserves this award for all his great years of influencing us drummers -including the late great John Bonham.”
