Columbia Records Executive Who Worked With AEROSMITH, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, BOB DYLAN Passes

According to the Washingtonpost.com, Don DeVito, a longtime Columbia Records executive who produced the key BOB DYLAN albums Blood On The Tracks and Desire and also worked with artists including BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, BILLY JOEL and AEROSMITH, has died.

Columbia Records said Monday that DeVito died Friday at 72. He had battled prostate cancer for 16 years.

DeVito won a Grammy in 1989 for his work on an album that paid tribute to WOODY GUTHRIE and LEADBELLY. He also helped organize The Concert for New York City, the all-star benefit event staged after the September 11 attacks.

DeVito retired four years ago. He is survived by a wife and two children.
