The Great Southern Brainfart has posted a new interview with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY vocalist/bassist Mike Dean. An excerpt follows:

Q: The physical medium of music has changed so drastically but it seems like people are starting to gravitate back towards that classic vinyl format again which I’m loving. How do you feel about this shift back to an old school way of enjoying music?

A: "Music has been kind of miniaturized like everything else along with the technology. If I want to listen to music with decent reproduction, I’m almost better off going to the thrift store and digging up some 1975 stereo equipment that still works rather than find something brand new that plays data compressed MP3 files that are just miniaturized sounding. They’re just completely compressed and people listen to them on ear buds and actually listen through the shitty little speaker on their cellphones. I do see signs of hope in that you see a resurgence of vinyl, people want something that they can hold in their hands."

Corrosion Of Conformity was established in 1982 in Raleigh, North Carolina by Mike Dean, guitarist Woody Weatherman and drummer Reed Mullin. Ever since then the band has released seven studio albums, 3 EP's, and 1 live album.

It was mixed by John Lousteau (FOO FIGHTERS) and features artwork by Seldon Hunt (MELVINS, HIGH ON FIRE). The album is available on standard CD, deluxe digipak, and two exclusive vinyl formats.

During, the band's tour kick off show at The Gramercy Theatre in New York Rock City on Thursday, March 1st, Horns Up! had the chance to chat with Mullen and Weatherman about the band's new studio album and connections with Dave Grohl.
