Coinciding with the upcoming release of Carbon-Based Anatomy, CYNIC took part in a special release party on November 2nd at Idle Hands Bar in New York City. The band signed copies of the new EP and performed a special intimate acoustic set.

Metal Injection was on hand at the event and have posted video footage of Cynic performing 'Veil of Maya' and 'Evolutionary Sleeper'. Check it out below:

Additionally, frontman Paul Masvidal and drummer Sean Reinert spoke to Metal Injection after their set. The guys discussed the evolution of their new EP, if they plan on releasing more EPs in the future, their new members, their experiences with LSD and they reveal that they expect to release a new full-length album by the summer. Carbon-Based Anatomy will be released on November 15th in North America and November 11th in Europe.

The artwork was designed by Robert Venosa, the artist behind the cover artworks of Focus, Traced In Air and Re-Traced. The band regret to announce that Robert passed away last month. Check out the artwork below:

Paul Masvidal describes this new EP as "both a philosophical as well as a musical journey, one that begins in the Amazon jungle on the lips of a shamanic wisewoman (as portrayed by Amy Correia) and ends in outerspace".

Fans will be excited to know that all bass parts on Carbon-Based Anatomy were recorded by Sean Malone.
